The “build
It and they will come” theory: I’ve been in the studio for the
last umpteen years producing music for tv shows, commercials,
movies, and a lot of artists. I love the creation and craft
of music. But for various reasons, I have never made a solo
or band album. So why now? Because now I have something to say.
I am ready to do this.
Some believe
there are souls out there just waiting for us to give them birth,
as souls in need of a body. I don’t know about that. I do believe
a lot of art waits patiently and summons the craftsman to give
it birth. That’s where I am. I believe in these songs. Unfortunately,
there are a lot of songs and artist careers that are invalid.
You might say, but all the new, major label artists look hot
and have kool videos. Hmmmm. That is true. But, if I wasn’t
positive that my entrance into this game was valid and timely,
I simply wouldn’t do it.
But isn’t
the music industry a locked game with narrowly defined prejudices,
totally corrupt by vapid imagery and celebrity / corporate exploitation?
Ouch, again. It’s true, Video killed the Radio Star. So even
if I do have something to say and even if the product is great,
how can it get to market? What is possible?
I am a dreamer.
But, just as I am an artist somewhat alone, needing help, I
believe there is somewhere an entrepreneur who looks for and
will recognize potential, a music publisher, a record company
mogul in the making, a budding filmmaker, a younger artist who
needs help, or maybe there’s simply a party goin’ on somewhere
that needs my music. Hey, I’m open. How can we connect? Let’s
create a scene.
